Color alone is not diagnosis
- Blue can relate to oil burning, black to excess fuel/low air, and white to condensation/fuel/coolant; operating condition matters.
- Record whether smoke appears at cold start, idle, throttle tip-in or load.
Oil and turbo
- Evaluate oil consumption, PCV, turbo compressor/turbine side and cylinder sealing together.
- An oil film in a charge hose alone does not prove turbo failure.
