Graph all wheel speeds together

A channel that drops or spikes at low speed can point to the sensor, air gap, encoder ring or wiring.

  • Plot all four wheel-speed channels on the same scale.
  • Note whether the fault changes with speed, steering or temperature.
  • Preserve module voltage and freeze-frame before clearing.

A new sensor may not fix the signal path

Many wheel bearings contain a magnetic encoder. Corrosion, impact, wrong orientation or an incorrect bearing can corrupt the signal.

  • Confirm encoder side and bearing application.
  • Test wiring while flexing it, not only with a static resistance reading.
  • Use the correct active-sensor measurement method for its circuit type.

ESC depends on more than wheel speed

Steering angle, yaw/acceleration and brake-pressure information can also disable stability functions.

  • Compare steering-angle zero with mechanical alignment.
  • Check tyre pressure and alignment before calibration.
  • Evaluate low system voltage when many chassis DTCs appear together.
