- Battery voltage and loaded module supply/ground test
- Measure bus resistance only with power removed and topology confirmed.
- Capture line amplitude, common mode, reflections and disturbance at the fault moment.
A structured method for separating Control Pilot, Proximity Pilot, protective earth, PLC communication and the on-board charger when charging will not start.
Charging is not only a power connection. The vehicle and EVSE first evaluate cable capability, connection state and permissions, then perform additional communication according to the AC or DC architecture.
CP carries connection and permission states using PWM, while PP represents cable and connector information. DC fast charging adds PLC. A fault anywhere in this chain may appear simply as charging not starting.
Begin with a known-good station and cable. A fault at every station points towards the vehicle; a fault at one station suggests the EVSE, cable or compatibility. Protective-earth and insulation checks are still mandatory.
Observe CP state transitions, duty cycle and stability with an oscilloscope. Interpret exact levels, frequency and messaging using the applicable standard and manufacturer procedure. PLC analysis requires suitable coupling equipment.
After repair, test AC and DC separately and verify connector locking, temperature, requested power and the reason for any interruption.
